It has been raining here for days. The ground is soggy, the rivers are running high, and my kids are bouncing off the walls after too many indoor recesses. Not wanting to face another afternoon inside, we decided to throw on old clothes, puddle boots, and rain coats in order to wander around a local park.
It was easy planning on my part–as soon as we were parked they were off and running towards a stream and pond. For over an hour and a half they poked about, stomped in the water, squished their boots in the mud, and filled their pockets with treasure. I just followed along, letting their curiosity lead the way. It felt wonderful to be outside–no need to wait for a sunny day. Rainy days can be just as much (if not more) fun!
